Trails of 1812
"What does a bike-share program have to do with the War of 1812?" you ask. "What better way to get to the event than by bike?" the city's planning department answers.
On Tuesday, the city council voted 6-2 to apply for the grant, which requires the city to pony up matching funds in the amount of $66,000. If the grant is awarded, the city will have a total of $136,000 with which to install the stations (the amount matched, plus $4,000 matched in-kind). There will be three stations in total, to be located at the College Park Metro, City Hall and the Hollywood Commercial District, and each station will hold four bikes.

Finding the way home is harder than people think - Elliot Lake Standard - Ontario, CA
"For those who go out unprepared and get lost there are groups such as North Shore Search and Rescue. This mix of police officers, EMS paramedics and civilians from Sudbury, Manitoulin Island, Elliot Lake and Espanola keep their people-finding skills sharp by training year round. Just recently they completed a mock winter rescue at Camp Thompson in Elliot Lake.
While a lost person might enjoy seeing one of these orange-suited rescuers it would be better if they prepared themselves before going out into the bush. Before heading out, always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back, and don't change the plan after you leave. It could cost you your life."

CottageCountryNow Article: Dun-Ahmic Snowriders check for snowmobile trail permits
"With each snowmobile season three weekends become significant for snowmobile clubs of the OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs). The last weekend in January and the first and second weekend in February is when club members have trail patrols. Their major function is to stop sledders on OFSC trails and check for trail passes. Should a sledder not have a trail pass, they are given opportunity to purchase one as the money received from these passes goes into the creation of the OFSC marked trails they are enjoying. Without that financial support, the trails would not exist. Should they choose not to make a purchase, should they not have trail pass, the patrol members politely request from them that they turn around and that they enjoy the sport on trails other than OFSC trails."
