Greenbelt - Sure but they don't talk to OTC about trails

News to follow - when we approached GTA Greenbelt in 2007 to coordinate a trails strategy with the Greenbelt we were told: "We thought about Ontario Trails Council and they aren't relevant to us." Hmmm, with over 1.8 million unique visitors to the Ontario Trails website last 2 years, we appear relevant to a lot of folks. Makes us wonder how a government agency and its foundation can operate with such an insular quality? Their agency and the work they do matters to us, we've invited them to speak at Trailhead Ontario.

Ontario is one of the most beautiful places. We have an abundance of natural resources, and our greenspace is among the most remarkable in the world.

But Ontario is always growing, our communities expanding. And as a result, large chunks of fine agricultural land were being paved over.

Our government realized that, while our communities needed space to grow, Ontarians wanted something more than sprawling development, congestion and pollution.

That is why we came up with a plan that provided for growth as well as the preservation of our countryside.
