Host A Mayor's Walk in 2025!

mayor's walk badge

Ontario Trails "Mayor's Walk" are open to OTC member organizations to act as hosts for a walk on June 7, 2025.

We are asking communities to share their enthusiasm for their local trails by inviting your mayor out for a walk on provincial trails day, June 7, 2025.

With trails in 100's of Ontario Communities this is a great way to showcase your local support while enabling all the Mayor's and their traill friends to get out for a celebration of trails.

Sign up sheet.

Ask for the event planning tool, email us at execdir@ontariotrails.ca

Thanks everyone!

Member Updates

Renewal - Bruce Trail Conservancy - Thank-you!

Note to Members -

On behalf of the Board and Volunteers at the Ontario Trails Council we want to thank you for hanging in with us.

In the face of competing priorities, we would appreciate your membership renewal.

We would also appreciate your recommendation. https://g.page/r/CQ9K9pdhHG6TEB0/review

In supporting Ontario Trails Council you are supporting the only provincial level trail organization in Ontario that supports 24 different uses, argues successfully for user access, changes municipal plans, writes plans for tourism organizations, all the while promoting your trail via the centralized website for trails.

We have a graduated membership system that encourages small groups (a lesser membership fee) to join with large groups (larger because you are larger, have more trails or traverse more than 4 regions) in making a provincial voice for all trails.

Please invite a group or similar agency to join OTC. See our list of invite badges here.

Share our Logo on your Website and link to: http://ontariotrails.ca

Over the past year with your support we have -
  • Developed a Trail Classification, Trail Master Plan and related templates system for all Ontario Trails
  • Maintained the ORFA supported Recreational Facilities Asset Management Software (RFAM) so that if you use this program to report on your trail assets at the same time!
  • Supported ongoing work of the Hastings Destination Trails
  • Maintained a provincial office and staff support.
  • Invited and are working with several first nations, including the Algonquins of Ontario on trails as reconciliation programs.
  • Developed a Regional Trail Committee in the Thousand Islands Area with the support of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission
  • Provided 2 Risk Management Training Sessions via Ontario Parks Association, enabling staff or volunteers to assess and remediate issues at trailheads, along the trail, and in the office
  • Completed a Trails Presentation securing local government support for the needs of the Niagara on the Lake Heritage Trail
  • Maintained a web presence for your trails encouraging people to plan before they go on the trail.
  • Encouraged #traillocal, #ridelocal, #hikelocal, #bikelocal #ontariotrails #ontariotrailstourism #ontariotrailvolunteers #outdoordefender

As a member, we would be happy to share all these documents and plans with you!

We hope you will renew. These are just a few of the many things we do every day to provide a provincial presence in recreational trails.

We need your support to continue our work in support of your efforts.

Thank you for your consideration.
