Ontario Trails News - An Update from Ontario Trails 352018

Ontario Trails supports Sault Ste. Marie Trail Development.

We thank the following supporters of Trailhead North Algoma!
Tourism Northern Ontario

Voyageur Trail Association

Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Commission
Sault Ste. Marie is one of the oldest settlements in North America. For at least 2,000 years, people have lived beside the rapids of the St. Marys River such as Jesuit Missionaries, explorers, voyageurs, artists, soldiers, and traders. The rapids provided an ideal environment for fish gathering and for centuries communities of Ojibwa lived close to the river, their livelihood based on whitefish.

Prescott-Russell Feedback

TAKE OUR TRAILS SURVEY - ENG
TAKE OUR TRAILS SURVEY  - FR

We have just been from Montreal to Ottawa using this trail (Prescott and Russell Recreational Trail) from 31 Aug to 1 Sep 2017 using touring bikes (tires 28C).

Starting at St-Eugene ( but not before) it has the same quality as Petit Train du Nord all the way to Ottawa.

Over the 2 days, we met only 2 cyclists. Quiet and safe, although the small gravel reduced our speed by 10%.

We slept in Motel Rouleau of Alfred (65$) where people were friendly and bilingual. We are thinking to use it again for a trip MTL-Ottawa-Kingston-MTL.

We had difficulty to find the link with the Ottawa bike trails at the end. Loved it and recommend it.

(We have invited the PTBA, Prescott-Russell and the City of Ottawa, the NCC, Ottawa Cyclist Groups, the RDD and Tourism Ottawa to join us at Trailhead Canada to discuss making these Ottawa linkages happen)

Be a Friend of Trails
We invite all trail users to support the work of the Ontario Trails Council. As a registered charity we do our community work based on the support of member organizations, individuals and some government grants. The Ontario Trails Council has collected over 40,000 points of data on Ontario's recreational trails.

We know that there is a trail in over 430 communities. We know Ontario maintains over 80,000 km of trails.

This means a sizable investment of time, effort and funds has been utilized to create the world's largest system of trails.

This survey asks you to provide more detail on the inputs of time, effort and investment that made trails in your area.

Thanks
