U.S. Based Program Heads North � Bike Monkey Magazine

"Creating Bicycle Friendly Communities just got easier thanks to a U.S.-based program that is now available for the first time in Canada. The Share the Road Cycling Coalition, (SRCC) an Ontario-based non-profit organization which promotes bicycling as a mode of transportation, recreation and fitness through provincial advocacy, announced that the Bicycle Friendly Communities Program is coming to Ontario."

There are a number of other organizations, and cycle leaders - Ontario Cycles, Ontario Trails, IMBA Canada, Velo Ontario, Cycle Ontario Alliance and Bike On Tours who have made serious attempts to engage STR and our calls have gone unanswered. So while we appreciate STR getting CBFC here, they do not speak for all cyclists or groups in Ontario, and have seemingly, in fact resisted cooperation towards consensus and consolidation of Ontario Cyclists and their issues.

$65,000 announced for trail work - Owen Sound Sun Times - Ontario, CA

"The Ontario government is contributing $50,000 towards a three-pronged project to map and improve Owen Sound's network of trails.

The city is kicking in an additional $15,000.

Pam Coulter, Owen Sound's community services director, said Phase 1 of the project will involve digitally mapping the trails, using a GIS device, so an accurate inventory can be compiled."

The Share the Road Cycling Coalition, the League of American Bicyclists, the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada and Trek Bicycles Canada are going to make their pitch to those who attend the session and hope that they can start a movement in Ontario.

Personally, I hope Andy Clarke, exec director of the League, brought some of the Yearbooks. It really helps to know that Oxford, Miss., population 16,727, has been looking at complete streets and road diets, hosts smart cycling courses and actually has redefined itself as a cycling town. If Oxford can do it, why not Goderich, or Brockville or Orillia?"

U.S. cycling group pushes pedal power in Windsor

Hmmmm - great profile Toronto cycling on a National scale, BUT what about the 88,000km of trails in Ontario - they need to be connected - or the 250,000km in Canada? Now there is a story of national importance.
