Paddling Ontario - Heritage River Canoe, Kayak & Raft Trip Outfitter
"The province of Ontario, Canada is unique in many ways, but one thing Ontario is known for, is its beautiful lakes and rivers. Ontario is truly a paddler’s dream come true, it has literally tens of thousands of lakes and rivers to paddle. Ontario offers remote paddles in its far north to urban paddles on rivers like the Humber River in the heart of Canada’s largest city, Toronto, Ontario.
There are many provincial parks like Algonquin Provincial Park and Killarney Provincial Park that offer wilderness paddles and panoramic paddles on Georgian Bay in the Bruce Peninsula National Park and Long Point Biosphere Reserve."

Collingwood Active Transportation Plan: Drive-throughs
"A question regarding the scope of this project was recently asked of staff.
The question related to the examination of the use/reduction/elimination of drive-throughs from future development. The specific concern related to the potential of creating traffic congestion with drive-throughs, especially when there are multiple drive-throughs located in a particular area of town."

Local trails in good shape - The Orillia Packet & Times - Ontario, CA
"Thanks to the weekend's heavy snowfall, the Orillia District Snowmobile Club is hoping to have most of their trails officially opened some time Monday or Tuesday.
'We had a good trail base before Christmas,' John Britten, president of the local snowmobiling club, said Sunday. 'We were open and some of our trails were on a limited basis. But, of course, the rain New Year's Day and the day before, just wiped us out. We just needed the snow. This was the first snow this area has had.'"

Winter cycling requires warm gear and the right tires - Peterborough Examiner - Ontario, CA
"I was chatting a good friend of mine in Ottawa on Saturday evening and not far into the conversation we both proclaimed our boredom and disgust at having no plans for the night. Thirty minutes later I found myself on the road to Ottawa for a night out on the town -- boredom no more!
What I like about Ottawa is that despite its large size and its status as the nation's capital, the downtown really feels very much like a small town. You don't hear horns honking at every opportunity like in Toronto, and people seem to move at a slower pace."

ParticipACTION - Official Blog: XC skiing: If you’re looking for a full-body workout, look no further
"I recently enjoyed a morning of XC skiing at Scenic Caves Nordic Centre, near Collingwood, Ontario. Fresh air and exercise are a wonderful combination!
The mental and de-stressing benefits of physical activity in the great outdoors are well documented and when it comes to a full body form of exercise, XC skiing is hard to beat."

Safety reminder issued for trail fun | The Chronicle-Journal
"During Provincial Snowmobile Safety Week, which begins today, snowmobilers are reminded that they can help make trails safer this winter by following a few simple rules.
The Ministry of Transportation and Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs recommend that snowmobilers: obey trail rules and respect posted speed limits; don’t drink and ride; stay on marked trails; check local ice conditions and the weather forecast before heading out; ride according to trail and weather conditions; avoid travelling on unmarked frozen lakes and rivers; ride with caution at night; wear an approved snowmobile helmet and buoyant snowmobile suit; pack a survival kit; never snowmobile alone; and tell someone where you are going, what route you will take and when you plan to return."

GuelphMercury.com - Travel - Travel: Winter getaway in Bruce County
GuelphMercury.com - Travel - Travel: Winter getaway in Bruce County: "KINCARDINE — Right off the bat, I break the two golden rules of dogsledding.
Hardly 100 metres onto the winter forest trail in Ontario’s Bruce County, I ricochet off a couple of trees, lose control, topple and let go of the sled.
This is when Victor Hutter’s preliminary words of advice ring again in my ear:
“There’s really only two rules for dogsledding — never let go and don’t run into anything.”
It’s as if Hutter, owner of the Tokamak Kennel in Kincardine, anticipated my double faux pas. And as if the dogs anticipated it as well."
