"Markham residents have been invited to attend the first public meeting for the Rouge Park trails master plan at Markham Museum Oct. 21.

The Rouge Park Alliance has identified the need to prepare a trails master plan for the Park, with a long-term goal of creating a trail network from Lake Ontario to the Oak Ridges Moraine.

This is the first opportunity for park trail stakeholders and the public to learn more about the process and provide initial input.

If you can't attend this meeting but would like to learn more, another meeting at the Toronto Zoo atrium is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20.

Sudbury Local News - MNR conservation officers prep for hunting season

"it is now hunting season across northeastern Ontario, and the Ministry of Natural Resources is going to be out in force making sure hunters follow the rules.

In a press release, the Ministry said it would be out on a safety-first campaign between Oct. 9-23, and would educate and enforce hunter-orange requirements and the safe use of firearms.

Offenses can net up to $25,000 in fines, imprisonment, or both."

Watch for hunters as you use the trails in fall.

Hunters are required to wear solid hunter-orange clothing and a hunter orange cap, except during bows-only season. The clothing must be solid, and mesh construction vests are not acceptable."

"The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) is offering snowmobilers the ultimate weather promise: Snow Guarantee. Riders who buy a 2011 Seasonal Snowmobile Trail Permit on or before December 15, 2010 can get paid cash if it doesn’t snow this winter. The new OFSC Snow Guarantee pays out $200 to each participating rider if it snows a total of 31 centimetres (12 inches) or less between December 25, 2010 and March 15, 2011 as measured at the Environment Canada station at Shanty Bay Airport near Barrie, Ontario. OFSC 2011 permit members can purchase the OFSC Snow Guarantee online for $10 CDN (tax included) on or before December 15, 2010."

Introduction
The plan is to have weekly pool sessions and a formalized training development plan to create a good team play and have fun in the process. With a greater knowledge of the canoe polo rules, a focus on polo skills and more experience practicing together as a team we can be really successful in 2011. The principles here are taken from some Canada & GB Teams and from the New York and Montreal teams.

Started in September of 2010. We are looking for individuals that want to have fun on their ATV's. We are located in Cornwall Ontario and go out within Cornwall and the surrounding area`s.

"A judge decided Thursday he was uncomfortable sentencing a prohibited driver, nabbed driving an ATV in a remote area northwest of Sault Ste. Marie, until he has more information about where the man was stopped.

Robert Goulet pleaded guilty Wednesday to impaired driving, operating a vehicle while disqualified, breach of probation and breach of an undertaking.

Take a course, have a valid driver's license, licence your machine and if you are on a trail buy the trail pass.

At that time, Ontario Court Justice Andrew Buttazzoni heard a conservation officer (CO) stopped Goulet on Chelsea Road in Chelsea Township in the Hornepayne area at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 25."

Transport initiative would beat a better path for school travel

"Cars clogging the school bus zone, drivers pulling U-turns, kids jaywalking and congestion everywhere — traffic was becoming such a headache at Broadview Avenue Public School that some parents didn’t want their children walking to the Westboro elementary school out of fear something bad might happen.

“A lot of parents were telling us they were really nervous someone was going to be hit by a car,” said Karen Mason, a parent of two students at the school.

The parent council set out to find a solution and, in doing so, became part of a new initiative called the School Travel Planning Project."
