"I know it's still there, hidden somewhere in the bush, or more probably, still visible from the train window – mileage 222 on the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway, jumping off point for the Porcupine Camp and the beginning of a 30-mile trek into the gold area.
This was the beginning of the now famous Porcupine Trail, Ontario's own Chilkoot Pass, a rough stretch of land that brought in hundreds of prospectors and mining men, all hopeful for a repeat performance of the Klondike discoveries in the bush of New Ontario."
