Ontario Nature

Ontario Nature protects wild species and wild spaces through conservation, education and public engagement. Ontario Nature is a charitable organization representing more than 30,000 members and supporters and 150 member groups from across Ontario.
 

Petawawa and Area Recreational Trails Association

The Emerald Necklace Trail System was designed as Petawawa's Millennium Partnership Program to explore our heritage, celebrate our achievements, build our future, and leave a lasting legacy throughout the years, Petawawa's settlers have formed the paths, which now make up the Emerald Necklace. The phases of the system will eventually unite Petawawa. 

Pic River First Nation Trails

The Pic River is a river in the east part of Thunder Bay District in northwestern OntarioCanada. It flows from McKay Lake southeast of the community of Longlac and empties into Lake Superior southeast of the town of Marathon.
 

Red Lake Recreation

Nature Trails: There are walking trails in the area for those who enjoy the calm serenity of a nature walkThe Red Lake Recreation center offers a wide variety of physical activities. You can try squash, weight training, aerobic exercise equipment, table top sports, and fitness classes.
 

Rideau Valley Conservation Area Trails

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority is an environmental protection and advisory agency that works with local municipalities, government agencies, special interest groups and the general public. The RVCA strives to protect watershed resources. Our goal is to have clean water, natural shorelines and sustainable land use throughout the Rideau Valley watershed.
 

St. Catharines Recreational Trails 

Through a network of city trails, the Bruce Trail and Short Hills Provincial Park, there are more than 90 kilometres of pathways that crisscross the city.
 

St. Thomas Recreational Trails

St. Thomas Parks and Recreation inspires and assists community members to live healthy and active lives through parks, open spaces, facilities, programs, and services. 
 

Sandbanks Provincial Park

  • Three expansive sandy beaches that some say are among the best in Canada; Outlet Beach is perfect for families, with shallow waters and gentle drop off
  • Location jutting out into Lake Ontario means that this park is a bird migration hotspot in spring and fall
  • Walking trails that allow visitors to experience the dune and wetland habitats of the park

Thorold Recreational Trails

The Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance of all municipal passive and sports parks and trails throughout the municipality.

Welland Recreational Trails

Niagara Falls Trails

The Park in the City Committee maintains a Trails and Cycling Page. On that page are various events, downloadable files and links to other related websites. The Trails Database is currently undergoing maintenance. For any trail related information or questions, please email Jeff Guarasci in our Recreation and Culture Department or call him at 905-356-7521 extension 3341.
 

Niagara Parks Commission

Enjoy over 50 km of trail from Old Fort Erie in the south to Niagara-on-the-Lake in the north. Stairways at the Niagara Glen Trail (pictured above) lead to 4 km (2.5 mi) of paths that wind through a pristine pocket of Carolinian Forest, past boulders left behind as the Falls eroded through the area thousands of years ago.
 

Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority

The Niagara Peninsula is one of the most unique and complex watersheds in Ontario. The NPCA is caretaker to over 2,870 hectares (7,091 acres) of some of the most unique and sensitive natural areas on the peninsula. Outdoor adventures can include natural history, spectacular views, unique trails, fascinating rock formations, sparkling water, and abundant wildlife. 
 

Nipigon/Red Rock

This 8.2 km hiking trail, which connects the Nipigon and Red Rock marinas, takes between 2 ½ to 3 hours to complete. The trail from Nipigon hugs the shoreline of the Nipigon River as far as Sawmill Point. This part of the trail is easy walking and affords the hiker a chance to view the wildlife on the river, including bald eagles, blue herons, peregrine falcon, pelicans, and a variety of waterfowl. Northumberland County Forest

The Northumberland County Forest is a 2 195 hectare (5 424 acre), multi-use forest and is managed for ecological conservation, recreation and timber harvesting. There have been many changes to the Northumberland County Forest's recreation program, so please be sure to read the information related to your activity.

Durham Mountain Biking Association is a non-profit association whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve trail opportunities for mountain bikers in Durham and York Regions. 

Elgin County

Elliot Lake Recreational Trails

Georgian Cycle and Ski Trail Association

A 34 km all-season, easy access, recreational trail linking communities between Collingwood and Meaford, primarily on former railway property.  The trail is for cyclists, walkers, joggers, cross-country skiers, and is wheelchair accessible (however, motorized vehicles and horses are not permitted).  
 

Kapuskasing Cross Country Trails

Welcome to the Kap Nordic Skiers Ski Club Web Site. This site offers general information about the trails and the Nordic Skiiers Ski Club. For more information, please contact the Club. Our trail system offers 25 km of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing in beautiful wild northern sceneries.
 

Lambton Shores Nature Trails

LSNT was founded in October 2011 by a group of local nature and hiking enthusiasts.  It is a volunteer organization and since 2012 a Community Committee of Council dedicated to upgrade & maintain existing Nature Trails and help build other community trails and connector trails in Lambton Shores & Vicinity (LS&V) with landowners and other partners.

Catfish Conservation Area Trails

The Springwater Conservation Area provides 8 kms of hiking trails open year-round. A nominal donation of $2.00 per person is requested to help support maintenance of the trails. Fee boxes are located at each entrance of the trails.

Membership Growth

Ontario Trails Council Membership is now over 220 member organizations. In 2003 we had 33. Our growth is in large part because of our services, the other because we create the ability to apply for funds to make your communities better through recreational trails. Membership Pages

The project application process is now CLOSED (AUGUST 15, 2014).



In Ontario the OTC has been retained to assist members process their NON-Motorized and multi-use trail applications to the NTC. This facilitation includes:
  • application review
  • assisting in application completion
  • ensuring applicants are eligible to apply
  • processing at decision making committee (ORAC)
  • negotiating with other use groups in multi-use applications
  • reporting on grant to NTC Ontario, national non-motorized and NTC National Coordinator and related staff
  • ensure file is audit ready
