Ontario Trails Council - National Trail Program Announced

We Value Our Members - Mr. Jack De Wit, OTC President

Dear Members - I often get questioned what are the benefits of an OTC Membership?  Your financial support enables us to assist trail groups and do many more things in support of trails.

This week the Ontario Trails Council will be a full participant in meetings of the Canadian Trails Federation in Ottawa. Our involvement there has resulted in much work with the National Trails Coalition, and in the direct securing of funding that we used to make trails in Ontario. I am pleased to provide you with the JOB ADS for the position of National Coordinator for the Project.

As you can see your financial support may not return directly to your community, but with it, by keeping the OTC viable, we are able to preserve or develop trails somewhere in Ontario.

Sincerely, Jack De Wit, President.

Ontario Trails News - hiking, waking, biking, camping - information from Ontario's 2600 trails!

Norfolk County - Trails #1

This is our opinion too! All over Ontario. OTC was lucky enough to be asked to say a few words at the ribbon cutting opening of this trail in 2011. I beleive we also gave the local folks some funding to complete the project.

Congrats Terry, and
Frank and all the great folks in Norfolk - the Waterford Heritage Trail and Norfolk County are both supporting members of the Ontario Trails Council. Thanks and congratulations!

Georgian Bay Coast Trail and INAC Support OTC Consultation Work

On Sunday April 27th, David Raithby, Chair of GBCT, Jessie Metelka of GBCT and Patrick Connor from Ontario Trails, met the Chief Wayne McQuabbie and Members of Band Council of Henvey Inlet First Nation, as well as the Lands Committee of HIFN.

Our working group has been meeting regularly for a few months and we attended this meeting of Council to apprise them on project progress and next steps. The Ontario Trails Council is pleased to be working with the Georgian Bay Coast trail and all the First Nation Partners in the project.

We Value Our Members - Mr. Jack De Wit, OTC President

Dear Members - I often get questioned what are the benefits of an OTC Membership?  Your financial support enables us to assist trail groups like:
  • Niagara Trails Committee, led by Quad Niagara and Niagara Region;
  • Georgian Bay Coast Trail, with our partners Georgian Bay BIosphere and a variety of First Nations peoples as well;
as well as many many more!

I am pleased to provide a copy of a letter we recently received from the Brant Waterways Foundation regarding the OTC. We thank them for their support.

On April 30th the OTC Board passed a Motion suggesting that all members write this type of letter to their MPP's and MP's.

As you can see your financial support may not return directly to your community, but with it, by keeping the OTC viable, we are able to preserve or develop trails somewhere in Ontario. And our members think we do this very well.

Sincerely, Jack De Wit, President.

Ontario Trails News - all about the unique value of Ontario Trails

About Membership - Mr. Jack De Wit, OTC President

Dear Members - With your support this week we achieved new levels of membership support.

I often get questioned what are the benefits of an OTC Membership? Well as a charity you are supporting our good works. From Kenora to Temiskaming to Windsor to Cornwall.

The OTC is the only 18 discipline, all trails, multi-use, single use, trail development, fund seeking, policy changing, government influencing, community assisting trail organization in Ontario. And more.

And only one of a handful of this type, nationally.

Your financial support may not return directly to your community, but with it, by keeping the OTC viable, we are able to preserve or develop trails somewhere in Ontario.

Further in this bulletin we will tell you about some of the programs and services your financial support allows us to pursue and secure.

Right now we are assisting in trail development or programs in Northern Ontario, Georgian Bay, and in South Western Ontario, as well as Toronto, Hamilton, Hastings, Middlesex, Peel, Simcoe, and other places!

We still have real services to pay for, telephone, audits, travel etc. So please take the time to renew your support today!
Sincerely, Jack De Wit, President.

Ontario Trail News- Membership update from Ontario Trails President Jack De Wit .

Update Message from Mr. Jack De Wit, OTC President

Dear Members - We continue to make headway with your support!

Over the past week we received renewals from The City of Mississauga, Waterford Trail and Oshawa; as well as new memberships, from the Economic Development Office in Mattawa Bonfield and the Canadian Recreational Horse and Rider Association.

Did you know that the OTC is one of a handful of Provincial charities that funds local work? Many do not. We are proud of our ability to secure and distribute funds - back to members - but in order to do our charitable work we need a phone, and other basic volunteer support structures. We need your support to do this.

We have been working on 2014 memberships since November 2013 and there are still some $8,500 in memberships still outstanding, including, some from some long term supporters. We want you to stay with us!

I appreciate that times may be difficult, but as we go forward into the next fiscal year, these outstanding membership dollars will, pay for the audit (4500), telephone (3600) and perhaps some printing costs.

By keeping the office and staff in place the OTC will be able to apply for grants, etc., engage in National Funding efforts like the National Trails Coalition and the Canadian Trails Federation. We wish to thank our partners for enabling us to do trail work at the national levels. Quite an accomplishment for a provincial trails organization.

Your financial support may not return directly to your community, but with it, by keeping the OTC viable, we are able to preserve or develop trails somewhere in Ontario.

Please e-mail Patrick if your cheque has been mailed, use paypal or call the office and they'll take a credit card number over the phone.

Again, Most Sincerely, Jack De Wit, President.
