"Plastiglas Ontario Cup XC # 5 takes place Sunday, July 11 at Buckwallow Cycling Centre, just north of Gravenhurst in the heart of Muskoka.
This is a unique and exciting venue and race course showcasing some of Ontario's best mountain bike trails. The singletrack flows with Canadian Shield features and some technical sections. This isn't a hilly course, but what it does offer is a flavor all of its' own!
Gravenhurst, and Bracebridge, offers plenty of accommodations that are very close to the race venue. Plus, Buckwallow is only a 1.5 hour drive north of the GTA.
The Plastiglas Ontario Cup Series consists of 7 events taking place at premier mountain bike venues across Ontario. This is Canada's most popular x-country mountain bike series with categories for all ages and ability levels.
One day licenses, and registration on Saturday and Sunday, are available on site. For more information, and for specific category and race times, visit www.chicoracing.com ."

"Canada Day weekend 2010 at Buckwallow. Fantastic weather and amazing trails! Rocky, rooty, technical Canadian Shield riding. Enough trails to spend the day riding all trails in both directions. Mike has done a fabulous job with the trails here!"
Ontario Parks Insider
"Hiking across the world’s longer esker and straddling the Atlantic and Arctic watersheds are two of the highlights that campers at Esker Lakes Provincial Park can enjoy. Here visitors bear witness to the power of glaciers that left their mark on the landscape when they retreated over 10,000 years ago."
Bob Howse remembered as visionary - Niagara Advance - Ontario, CA
"It was fall, 2005 when a photo was taken of Bob Howse on the freshly-laid gravel of the first phase of the recreational trail, just outside Niagara District Secondary School.
His wife Nancy held the picture up for all to see at Sunday's official opening of the trail, saying how appropriate it was that her husband was pictured outside the high school he had attended, on the trail he campaigned to have built, which was officially opened at the church where they met."

Spending the day with the cycle task force of the Met Police
"We’ve spotted two males cycling on the pavement. P.C. Johnston makes a quick turn and is off his bike questioning the one. Within seconds he has the bike turned over and is doing a frame check. Often a thief will scratch off the frame number. Luckily, this time it’s still there. The two males look nervous. P.C. Johnston has a feeling the bike is stolen. He asks if either of them have a previous criminal record. One answers yes. The frame number check comes back with no matches. If the bike is stolen then because the owner hasn’t registered it there’s nothing P.C. Johnston can do. He takes a description of the bike and let’s the two off without a fine.
He turns to me and tells me “Registering your bike makes all the difference”. I promise him I’ll pass it on to London Cyclist readers."

Canadian Cyclist - Sixth Le Tour De Terra Cotta
"2010 marks the sixth anniversary of Le Tour de Terra Cotta, the only European Style Road race held in Ontario. Three events are held on the scenic and challenging nine kilometre course in the hills of the Niagara Escarpment. The event continues to gain popularity every year since inception as the number of racers and spectators grow - 600 riders are expected to participate this August. Although most participants come from the Golden Horseshoe, we have welcomed riders from across Canada and the United States, and as far as Italy. Created as a Citizen's Race based on the vision of one man, his community, his cycling club and sanctioned by the Ontario Cycling Association, Le Tour De Terra Cotta is known for its uniqueness and is fast becoming a must attend event."

Trail draws riders from afar - St. Catharines Standard - Ontario, CA
"There's nothing like touring the Ontario waterfront on a bicycle built for two. It does take a little co-ordination, though, even for avid cyclists.
'It's a little bit harder to balance,' said Robin Porter of Taupo, New Zealand, who was piloting the tandem bike shared with wife Jacque. 'After 740-odd kilometres, we'll be getting good at it.'"

Canines and passing cyclists just don't mix - The Barrie Examiner - Ontario, CA
"This is a letter addressing dog owners in Barrie who drive with windows rolled down.
Let me first say that I myself am a dog lover and a dog owner, but I am also a cyclist. One recent morning as I was riding my bike to work, a driver passed by and I suddenly was startled by the owner's dog barking at me inches away from me."

Meet a new Member of the Bike Union Executive Board | Biking Toronto
"The Toronto Cyclists Union recently had elections for new Board Members. I noticed that one candidate, Nick Cluley had written out a notice on his blog about being up for one of the positions, so I asked if we could do a short e-interview so that BikingToronto readers could learn a bit more about him and why he decided to put himself up to be a Union board member."
Exploring Toronto: Toronto Discovery Walks and Toronto Trails.

Even if you have lived here all of your life, you may find the walks to be insightful and open up new experiences that enrich the big city life. I also highly recommend these as a wonderful family activity."
