Snowshoes have come a long way - Belleville Intelligencer - Ontario, CA

"Snowshoe running is the best kept secret of the off-season as it's loads of fun and is a great way to build leg strength and power. Snowshoe running encourages proper running form by requiring a higher leg lift, forward lean and midfoot landing. The core and upper body muscles show increased involvement and is a great aerobic activity that may increase your body's ability to exchange gases at the cellular level."

A tale of two cities » Local News » Niagara Gazette

"“I say oftentimes hope is not a strategy when it comes to economic development,” Diodati said. “Too many people use that as a strategy, they hope someone is going to knock on the door and give them the winning success formula. That’s not the case.”

Robert Mark Silverman, an associate professor in the University at Buffalo’s Urban and Regional Planning Department, said Niagara Falls, N.Y.’s commitment to heavy industry in the 1960s and 1970s, while the Canadians focused on tourism, has given them the upper-hand in attracting and retaining the 9 million to 14 million tourists who come to the region each year."

Ontario Trails Council wins EDCO Tourism Innovation Award

At Thursday's Economic Developers Council of Ontario 54th Annual Convention, the Ontario Trails Council was winner in the Tourism Category for Best use of Innovative Interactive Database.

"This is a great acknowledgement," said Patrick Connor, Ontario Trails Council Executive Director. The OTC has backed a series of trails tourism products over the years, trail passes of one type or the other, community trail models produced by Ontario Tourism and even single use strategies of various sports." But its a unique approach at the local level that seems to get results and capture the imagination.

"The representation of trails, on a street or community level, is what really works to demonstrate the value and the local potential of your trail to make jobs, increase our economic growth through tourism." added Connor.

The Ontario Trails Council is a non-profit charity promoting the growth, management, use and preservation of recreational trails in Ontario.

The OTC appreciates the help of Context Creative in achieving this award. The OTC also thanks the Economic Developers Council of Ontario for their Innovative approach to Ontario.
