"In Ontario, we have laws that state bicyclists have the same rights as other users of the road. In Toronto, we have provincial politicians considering a new law (Bill 74) that would require motorists to give cyclists a wide berth. And in London, we have “sharrows” to remind drivers to share the road with two-wheelers.
But none of that alters the reality of what happens when somebody driving a 4,000-pound car hits somebody pedalling a bike.
Last week that point was hammered home, once again, when a woman was seriously injured (her critical condition later improved) when she was struck from behind by an SUV along Hyde Park Rd., just north of 10 Mile Rd."
