Add Your Event

We post trail or outdoor events on trail specific facebook pages, the main OTC facebook page, and the event section of the OTC website. You can send us your event and we'll post it to these extensive networks. Each week we reach over 20,000 people, so if you want your event known, a bit better, send us the information.

Be a Friend of Trails

We invite all trail users to support the work of the Ontario Trails Council. As a registered charity we do our community work based on the support of member organziations, individuals and some government grants. We do the work, in the end for the individual families and folks that use the trails every day. Please consider supporting us as your thanks for your trails. Thank you.

Ontario Trail News - all sorts of news on Ontario trails!

OTC Attends Meetings makes comment

Over the past two weeks the OTC President, Jack De Wit has attended, sometimes with staff, sometimes with other Board Members, each of the 7 consultations on the Ontario Trails Strategy. We thank all the organizations that came out in response, and especially all the groups that have asked for permanent support for the operations of the Ontario Trails Council office.

The next meeting of the Ontario Trails Coordinating Committee is December 12th, and there is report of finding to be presented at that time.

Additionally the OTC continues to support trails all over Ontario  - this past week alone we assisted by phone or in person;
  • in Niagara, with progress being made on the Niagara Trails Committee moving to trail management with the Region on a section of trail from Port Colborne to Thorold. Discussions continue.
  • Prince Edward County is moving forward with over 12 supporters and staff involvement in the creation of a PEC Trails Committee to better manage the Millennium trail
  • Leamington is moving to develop trails, OTC supporting Essex and Chatham Kent resources to lend support
  • Huron County held meetings on the Guelph to Goderich Greenway
  • Saugeen Shores moved ahead with OTC support on its road access issues
  • In Toronto the OTC attended the Ontario Place Revitalization stakeholder advisory committee meeting as a member and we made comment on plans for park development and trail design and access considerations.
  • In Nippissing and Mattawa the local clubs are investing in trails. The OTC sent a note of encouragement!

Ontario Trails News - Comments on Ontario Trails Strategy welcomed!

Survey due by Dec. 4th
The Ontario Trails Strategy was launched in 2005 as a framework to help guide public, not-for-profit and private sector involvement with trails.  The Ontario Trails Strategy establishes five strategic directions for planning, managing, promoting and using trails in Ontario and was developed in collaboration with other ministries and a wide range of stakeholders in the community.

The Ontario Trails Coordinating Committee is reviewing the Ontario Trails Strategy and are interested in knowing the key contributions your organization has made to support the implementation of the Strategy.  The information will be compiled in a summary report document that is intended to illustrate the progress and accomplishments that the province and its partners have made towards implementing the Ontario Trails Strategy since 2005.

The link below will bring you to a short survey for you to outline your organization’s key accomplishments under the five strategic directions.
