Bear attacks man in rural Ontario | Canada | News | Toronto Sun

"ORILLIA, Ont. - A large black bear has attacked and seriously injured a 48-year-old man in Ontario's cottage country.

The man, who is from the popular cottage area north of Toronto, was attacked Tuesday evening in Severn Twp., located on the southeastern edge of Georgian Bay, said Const. Peter Leon, OPP central region media relations officer.

'My understanding is he has serious injuries to both of his legs and one of his arms,' Leon said.

The man was airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto for treatment to the non-life threatening injuries.

The wooded area is popular with locals and tourists for hiking, biking and horseback riding, he said."
