"This year a record number of canoeists and kayakkers participated in the OMCRA-sanctioned event - 51 boats in all, including 9 Jr. and 10 Senior kayakkers. Participants came from 'all over' Ontario, said organizer Iain Craig - from Ottawa to Sarnia.
There was even a handful of outrigger canoes, that participated in their own timed race - a first for the Ontario Marathon Canoe Racing Association.
Distances ranged from 8K, to a full 24 km - for those competing for points in the standings, and hoping to qualify for the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships."
