Ontario Trails News - Comments on Ontario Trails Strategy welcomed!

Survey due by Dec. 4th
The Ontario Trails Strategy was launched in 2005 as a framework to help guide public, not-for-profit and private sector involvement with trails.  The Ontario Trails Strategy establishes five strategic directions for planning, managing, promoting and using trails in Ontario and was developed in collaboration with other ministries and a wide range of stakeholders in the community.

The Ontario Trails Coordinating Committee is reviewing the Ontario Trails Strategy and are interested in knowing the key contributions your organization has made to support the implementation of the Strategy.  The information will be compiled in a summary report document that is intended to illustrate the progress and accomplishments that the province and its partners have made towards implementing the Ontario Trails Strategy since 2005.

The link below will bring you to a short survey for you to outline your organization’s key accomplishments under the five strategic directions.

Dear Trail Stakeholder,

The following link brings you to the 2005 Ontario Trails Strategy for your reference.  The survey will close end of day on Friday November 29, 2013.

In addition, a Discussion Paper has been posted on the Environmental Registry at www.ebr.gov.on.ca (EBR Registry Number: 011-9565) to support the renewal of the Ontario Trails Strategy.  We encourage you to submit your input and views as your feedback is important to the project.  The Discussion Paper will be posted until December 4, 2013.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

What a fantastic app! I am always looking for new trails near home and while camping and this will make it so much easier! I love the level of detail... length, difficulty, terrain, photos etc. I've read some negative reviews complaining about the map coverage and the omission of some trails...But I find it quite fine for my needs and there are usually links to the appropriate trail association's website for those requiring a higher level of detail. I think it's a great starting point for when you want to get an idea of what's around you but you don't want to waste several hours doing internet research. And there are many, many trails in Ontario; I'm not surprised if they aren't all included in the very first edition of this app. I'm sure Ontario Trails will be more than happy to include any missed trails that people bring to their attention. Personally, though, I find the current listings to be quite comprehensive. Great work Ontario Trails!

OPA Annual General Members Meeting Notices
Call for Board of Director wannabe's - Due to some changes that will be taking place with Board members moving to new positions within our Board we are looking for some new blood to join our awesomely wonderful and fun group. We are looking for two new members to add as Directors to our Board. If you have a passion for parks, and a sense of humour, or if you know someone who fits these qualifications and you would like to nominate them for a position as a Director on our Board, please email me at shelley@ontarioparksassociation.ca. If you would like further information on the requirements of a Director please email me and I will give you the skinny on what would be required of this type of superhero.

Proposed revision to Bylaws - At present our Bylaws require us to hold an Annual General Meeting AND an Annual General Members Meeting each year. Our Board will be putting forward a motion at our Annual General Members Meeting to change this item in our Bylaws so that we will be required to hold just one meeting per year - an Annual General Meeting.
