Strawberries and Asparagus is a spring harvest celebration that incorporates renewable energy, live music and green living.
Strawberries and Asparagus festival originated in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but you can host a local festival of your own.
We are happy to share our ideas with you - so that you can kick the growing season off with a Strawberries and Asparagus festival in your community.
In Toronto, the Strawberries and Asparagus Festival will be happening on June 12th 2010. The event will include free food, festival fun, live music, solar stage, solar cooking, green gardening and the very excellent Inorganic Market. Kids activities all day. Yoga and Zen Zone.
A bit of history - event organizer and community member Chris Chopik started a little neighbourhood BBQ kind of gathering in June and one year a band showed up. The BBQ was a celebration of the anniversary of the Spadina Expressway when the 40 acre greenspace that is now host to the Strawberry and Asparagus festival was slated to be paved. Until Active citizens assisted strong minded politicians to make the right long term decision to abandon the Allen at Eglinton."
