Rowswell angry Hub Trail bridge OK'd - The Sault Star - Ontario, CA: "Mayor John Rowswell is furious a contract to construct the Fort Creek portion of the Hub Trail was signed behind his back.
Rowswell, who has raised concerns about the design concept of an 800-foot-long bridge to be built over Fort Creek as part of the Hub Trail, said he didn't want to sign the contract until his questions and concerns were alleviated.
The issue first arose at a February council meeting when Rowswell, a professional engineer, said his support for the project was contingent on 'further review of the bridge and foundation material, design and alignment.'
A resolution was passed by city council approving the tender bid and awarding of the contract at the February meeting.
City staff raised Rowswell's concern with the project consultant and received assurances the bridge's design would work."
