Hiking enthusiasts braved a downpour to dedicate a new amenity near Rondeau Bay on Sunday.
The South Kent Trail Volunteers showcased the viewing stand at Erieau Marsh Trail, which is the only public access overlooking the west side of the rich natural area.
About 40 people attended the dedication. John Tesligte, chairman of the trail volunteers, said he appreciated the interest.
"I'm really surprised with the turnout," he said. "It's good to see."
Financial cont ributors included the municipality, Ministry of Natural Resources, McGeachy Foundation, Rondeau Bay Waterfowlers Association, R.J. Equipment, Bliss Cabins and Ralph Dick.
